Rhys Dunn, a third-year undergraduate student studying a Bachelor of Geoscience at Federation University Australia, has been working as a Project Field Assistant with Navarre’s exploration team in Stawell. Geological field technicians, like Rhys, provide essential support to Navarre’s mine planning and development team by collecting and analyzing information from rock and soil samples.

To help broaden his scientific and technical skills, Rhys headed to Navarre’s Mt Carlton operation in Queensland in February, where he worked alongside Geology Technician, Jess Drew. During his time at Mt Carlton, Rhys was busy in the core-yard logging diamond drill core and collecting samples. He enjoyed the warmer weather and learned a lot from Mt Carlton’s geology team.

Navarre is committed to supporting the next generation of Australian geologists and programs that provide opportunities for students like Rhys to gain practical experience and build their skills. Through their initiatives, Navarre is helping to build a strong community of skilled geologists that will drive the future of the mining industry.
