Aimee Farmer, our People and Culture Coordinator at Navarre’s Mt Carlton Operation, was recently out and about on-site catching up with team members and spent some time at the Mt Carlton United (MCU) deposit and watching the development of this new open pit mine.

Aimee is a talent acquisition specialist, or recruiter, who is responsible for identifying, attracting, and recruiting the best talent for the Mt Carlton mine. She works closely with hiring managers to understand the hiring needs of the organisation and strives to develop recruitment strategies to meet those needs. With the commencement of mining at MCU Aimee has been busy recruiting new operators to the site who will bolster existing crews to transport MCU ore to the nearby Mt Carlton processing plant.

Aimee started work at Mt Carlton in 2013, as a Laboratory Technician. She transitioned to a career in HR in 2019. As a recruiter in mining, Aimee needs to have a solid understanding of the mining industry and its operations and to be able to effectively communicate with candidates, hiring managers, and other stakeholders in the industry. She takes the time to find out what is happening on-site which means she can articulate the job requirements, describe the mining environment, and convey the company culture to candidates.

Mining is a tight-knit industry, and building relationships is key to Aimee’s success. She is a great recruiter who can build rapport with candidates, and maintain relationships with hiring managers to establish trust. This ensures we find the right candidates with the specialised skills we need.
